Advantages and Application Cases of Micro Switch

Micro switches are classified as detection switches by use, but are also used as operating switches sometimes. Micro switches include a variety of products of different sizes and are used by many devices.

1. Advantages of micro switches

Small size but can switch large current

Normally, when an electronic circuit is turned off, sparks called arcs are generated between the contacts. The larger the current is, the easier it is to generate arc light, the slower the switching speed of the contact and the longer the duration of the arc light, which is the factor leading to the deterioration of the contact. The quick mechanism of the micro switch can switch the contact instantaneously, so the duration of the arc light is short. Although the size is small, it can be used in the circuit with large current. 

High precision

Even if the micro switch is repeatedly opened/closed, it can basically switch contacts in the same position, so the position detection error is small, and it is suitable for applications requiring high precision. This is also a unique advantage of the micro switch with a quick action mechanism.

Durability

The durability is improved due to the short duration of the arc light and less damage to the contact.

Touch and sound

The quick motion mechanism has a unique sense of touch and sound when operating, so the operation can be confirmed by touch and hearing.

2. Examples of micro switches

Setting switch:

■ Lumbar valve setting of car seat

The application position of the micro switch in the seat lumbar valve is mainly used in the button position to play a starting role.

Detection switch:

■ Switch detection of dishwasher and washing machine lid

Use the switch to check that the lid is set correctly to start the dishwasher and washing machine correctly and safely. The switch of this kind of product is easy to get water, so waterproof products should be used.

■ Switch detection of photocopier and printer cover

Use the switch to check that the lid is set correctly so that the copier and printer can be started correctly and safely. A small micro switch equipped with a high shape degree of freedom actuator is used to accurately detect the movement of the lid in a limited space by adjusting the power and stroke.

Though micro switch is small, but it plays an irreplaceable role in our daily life. It can achieve automatic control and safety protection in the need to frequently change the circuit of the equipment. At present, it is mainly used in the switch of some electrical components, such as automotive electronics, communication equipment, military products, test instruments, gas water heater, gas stove, small household appliances, microwave oven, rice cooker, computer mouse, car mouse, float equipment, medical equipment, building automation, electric tools and general electrical and radio equipment, 24 hour timer and so on.
